Belknap grew up in Damariscotta. Her parents are David Belknap and Louise Belknap. She attended Lincoln Academy, Newcastle Maine. When she was at Middlebury College in Vermont she began to develop an interest in performing. It was at this point that the American Conservatory Theater granted her a degree of Master of Fine Arts. Belknap has a number of TV credits, which include characters in the series' regular role on Medical Investigation, Third Watch, ER, The Handler as well as Deadline. Also, she played the privilege of guest-starring in Law & Order Law & Special Victims Unit and Without a Trace. Belknap appeared in the movie Alchemy as well as made her feature film debut in the film of her own creation, The Reality Trap.
